Eurofighter builds links with the Czech Republic

The Typhoon will attend both Hradec Králové and Ostrava air shows

18:54 GMT, September 3, 2010 Hallbergmoos | This month sees Eurofighter Typhoon venturing to the Czech Republic as we attend two key European air shows held in the country. With a potential requirement for a new, more capable and fully NATO compatible fighter to replace the Air Force’s existing leased JAS 39 Gripen fleet, Eurofighter are keen to build a long lasting relationship with the Czech Air Force and Czech industry as well as familiarise the public with the World’s most advanced new generation multi-role combat aircraft.

Starting off the month is the Czech International Air Festival (CIAF) which is held over the weekend of the 5th and 6th September at Hradec Králové and will see an operational German Eurofighter Typhoon on static display. Alongside the aircraft will be a Eurofighter display ground full of information and technical details on the programme with staff on hand to talk visitors through the aircraft’s capabilities.

Secondly, 18th-19th September is the 10th annual NATO Days event in Ostrava which boasts being the largest air, army and security show in Central Europe. In addition to a strong Czech presence, like in Hradec Králové, there will be an international array of exhibitors ranging from the US and France, to Romania, Hungary, Poland, and the UK. An Austrian Air Force Eurofighter will hold a flying display to show the capability of the aircraft to the public and officials attending the show. Eurofighter will also have a 40 sq. m. stand full of new capabilities for visitors to enjoy.

The European solution offered by the Eurofighter Typhoon could help to sustain and develop the capabilities of the Czech defence industry and develop its skilled workforce. Through international collaboration and a designated technology insertion programme, involvment in the Typhoon programme would ensure the nation’s air force flies the most advance new generation aircraft for the coming decades.
